Kansas restaurants serve up food to help Greensburg

Restaurants around the state, including six in Lawrence, will be giving a percentage of their Thursday sales to the United Way in a Dine for Kansas event. The proceeds will help Greensburg residents struggling with the aftermath of the May 4 tornado.

Here is a complete list of participating restaurants in Dine for Kansas. The event is being sponsored by the Kansas Restaurant and Hospitality Association.

The Lawrence six are:
  • Bigg’s Barbeque, 2429 Iowa St., 15 percent of sales.
  • Free State Brewery, 636 Mass., 10 percent of sales.
  • Montana Mike’s, 1015 Iowa St., a one-time donation.
  • Runza Restaurant, 2700 Iowa St., 15 percent of sales.
  • WheatFields Bakery Cafe, 904 Vt., 10 percent of sales.
  • Zig and Mac’s, 1540 Wakarusa Drive, 15 percent of sales.
I've never been to Zig and Mac's, but do check out the Free State Brewery and WheatFields. They have to be two of the best restaurants in the state. Bigg's BBQ also gets the Silver Seal of Approval.
